A visit to Kawerau's awesome free thermal pools is the perfect way to relax after our Action Bug tour on the Rangitāiki awa. Yep that's right – the pools are free!

The Maurie Kjar Memorial Swimming Pool in Kawerau is around 1 hour from drive from Tauranga, 30 minutes from Whakatāne or 50 minutes from Rotorua, and only 35 minutes drive from the finishing point of our Action Bug - Rangitāiki tour. The complex consists of an 8 by 10m spa pool, 2 kids pools, and a 50m swimming pool. All pools have some shade and there are BBQ facilities for hire. More info on the Kawerau District Council website
